Project Interior Designer – Dallas
DNA Workshop is seeking a Project Interior Designer with 3–7 years of professional experience to join our Dallas, Texas office. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with strong design, presentation, and communication skills, and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for carrying the interior design scope from concept through construction, balancing strong design thinking with technical execution, coordination, and communication. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking ownership of assigned work, collaborating across disciplines & offices, and supporting the growth of junior designers.
Responsibilities:
- Support interior design development from programming and concept design through construction documentation and construction administration.
- Develop space plans, design concepts, finish palettes, material selections, furniture concepts, millwork, and interior details.
- Produce and coordinate Revit documentation, including plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, details, finish plans, and schedules.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with in-house architects across all offices, consultants, and contractors to maintain design intent and resolve technical issues.
- Attend client meetings to understand goals, preferences, and project requirements; present design concepts for approval.
- Support project schedules, deliverables, QA/QC, and coordination across multiple active projects.
- Support construction administration efforts, through the review and response of RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, site visits, and punch walks.
- Oversee construction progress and installations as well as conduct site visits, verifying the work aligns with approved documents and design standards.
- Provide guidance, redlines, and mentorship to junior designers.
- Stay current on materials, products, codes, design trends, and emerging tools relevant to interior design.
- Source materials, furnishings, finishes, and custom products, maintaining vendor relationships and product knowledge.
- Assist the office in maintaining a resource library.
- Ability to travel for project-related activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- 3–7 years of professional interior design experience.
- Experience in multifamily, commercial, retail, and/or hospitality projects.
- Strong proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Experience with Enscape, SketchUp, 3ds Max, or similar visualization tools preferred.
- Strong understanding of interior construction, materials, finishes, detailing, and FF&E. Working knowledge of applicable building, accessibility, and life-safety codes and regulations relevant to interior design.
- Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all offices and multidisciplinary teams.
- NCIDQ certification or active pursuit of certification is encouraged.
